We're doing an election-themed party based on his name - I LIKE IKE! The cute idea came from my good + very clever friends Kate + Maria. Its been fun putting the details together which I look forward to sharing!

I seriously can not believe its time for our little one to start pre-school in a few weeks. Here are the things I've gotten him to get ready + excited ...
I know I'm going to be a big mess that first day I drop him off (I was even a teary-eyed mess when we toured schools). I also realize I may be going overboard a bit given the fact he's only going 3 days a week for half days. Maybe my way of coping?

We went to the fair this weekend with our good friend Kate Headley who took these cute photos ...
The county fair is a must-do for us every summer. And speaking of summer ... I can't believe its almost over. I'm squeezing in as much summer goodness as possible over the next few weeks. What sorts of end-of-summer plans do you have?

This summer we started growing some tomatoes + herbs. And as a bi-product Ike has shown some [but not much] interest in vegetables ...
Its been a struggle from early on to get him to eat fruit + vegetables [he'll eat any fish, meat or pasta]. Any tips out there in getting kids to show interest + eat healthier? In addition to regularly giving him a serving of vegetables [which he usually will not eat] I do 'sneak' some in a la Deceptively Delicious. Any thoughts or tips welcome!

Our little one [Ike] is at the age [2.5] where he's starting to say the funniest things. I find myself cracking up daily. I wanted to remember these little moments, so I made a simple book ...
I got a simple Kolo album [love these], letterpress printed some blank cards + I slip them into little glassine envelopes next to photos of him from around that time frame. I carry the little cards with me [you never know what he's going to say or where] and leave a few lying around the house. I look forward to filing up this book, looking back through it + telling him the stories of the silly things he said.

We went to the White House Easter Egg Roll today + I am wiped out ...
It was an amazing experience + I'm so glad we went. But boy there sure was a lot of line waiting + maneuvering through crowds. All in all, little one did great + we all had a great time. We brought along one of his best buds + they were so hungry by the end of it ... we sat curbside on Constitution Avenue [waiting for our ride] devouring hot dogs. A pretty good day. :]

I think one of these might be in order for the White House Easter Egg Roll ...
Thanks to Lindsey over at Coveiter I found out tickets to this year's Roll were going to be available online. So last Thursday I spent much of the morning obsessively trying to get tickets ... and got some ... yay! Can't wait ... I think [or at least I hope] our little one will enjoy it.

We took advantage of the mild weather this morning, put on our boots + went for a little nature walk ...

Its supposed to be warm all weekend ... I think we'll spend much of it outdoors [yay!]. Have a lovely weekend.

I needed some thank you notes for gifts our little one has recently received + came up with these very quickly ...
I used this free traceable font ... he's a little young [2.5 years] to do it by himself so we traced it together + then I let him add his own touch. I then printed the address on the other side, folded the note + enclosed it in a standard #10 window envelope [inspired by Kate Spade] + used some leftover stamps from our Christmas cards. Done in 10 minutes!
