design*sponge

I'm so, so grateful to Grace over at Design*Sponge for including me in her 2007 Handmade Gift Guide.  This is so exciting on a number of different levels -- its given me a great jump start in my little shop + its so nice to receive validation from a design authority like Grace + of course the lovely people who are buying my work.  So, many, many thanks to those who have made purchases!!  Thanks for buying handmade + thanks for shopping simplesong.  I have a bunch of new stuff I'm working on and will update the shop next week.  But for now, I've got to get my orders packaged and mailed out!

beehive kitchenware

How charming are these candle holders and candles from Beehive?

Beehive
I saw them quite some time ago and found myself on their site recently and I was reminded how charming their stuff is.  Also love the color palette of the candles.

fabric + framed bulletin boards for shop

In addition to my paper goods, I've made some fabric covered + framed push pin/bulletin boards.  I'm really excited + pleased about how these turned out.  The fabric is really great, heavy weight cotton.  I've made large + small versions -- the larger one's are for a wall or to propped up against a wall + the smaller one's are perfect for a desk or counter top.  I made a desk version for myself a while back [with fabric that matches my bulletin board] + use it to post my 'to do' lists ...

[excuse the mess!]

Here's a quick peak of a few that I've made for the shop ...

Each board will come with one "TO DO" push pin [custom print on fabric] ...

And speaking of push pins, I was experimenting a bit and came up with these alphabet cuties.  I think I'll put some of these up in the shop at some point ...

ribbon organizer

I'm looking for a good ribbon organizer/dispenser.  Right now all of my ribbon is in a big hat box.  Here are a few I've spotted ...

The first one on the upper left-hand corner is a DIYer from Martha Stewart.  I'm leaning towards that so that I can get any size box and color.  Though I do like the Pottery Barn version.

paper source, kraft paper

Paper Source is great.  They have everything and their p.s. papers are always reasonably priced.  They just came out with some great recycled holiday papers/gift wrap on kraft paper [I also *heart* kraft paper]...

I think I'll pick up a roll of the White Berries.

xyron machine

So, I've never used a xyron machine but I know I would *heart* it.  This goes back to my love of office supplies   The xyron is one of those things I've thought about getting but don't want to spend the money on myself.  But I think the next time I want to treat myself to something, I will treat myself to a nice little xyron.  This is along the same lines [but of course wouldn't match up] to the new color printer I received for my bday this year from the husb.  I know, very nerdy, but that printer is one of my all-time favorite gifts.  To each his/her own, right? :)
